Wedding Wednesday: mini moons

This might be my last Wedding Wednesday as a single lady! With my wedding date fast approaching in just 10 days I'm getting more and more excited to finally be finished with all the stress of planning.

We've also booked a little mini moon, which I'm secretly most excited about! We were unable to have a big 2 week honeymoon straight after the wedding for a number of reason, so a mini moon was the best solution for us.

So...where are we off?  Bruges, that's where!

                                                                        via

Has anyone else been to Bruges?  It sounds like it's going to be a magical few days there, and here's why...

~ Christmas markets...

                                                                    via

~  Eating delicious waffles...

                                                                via

~ a nice cold glass of beer (or two...)

                                                                         via

~ walking around the beautiful canals...

                                                                       via

~ and the romantic outdoor ice skating rink...

What do you think of mini moons?  Would you consider it as an option?

Wedding Wednesday: thank you gifts

It is normally traditional here in the UK to give out thank you gifts to the parents, bridesmaids, best man and ushers during the groom's speech.  Some brides also give out their gifts to the bridesmaids during the morning of the wedding (which is an option I prefer) as it adds to the excitment of getting ready.

I'm currently on the lookout for the perfect gifts for my girls, and found a few little gems on Etsy!

~  This box is perfect for a bridesmaid gift, as you can personalise the ceramic tile.  This is avaible from Susabellas shop..very cute!

~  a gorgeous infinity pearl bracelet from Mosnos would make another lovely gift for bridesmaids

~  I love this unique idea - personalised hangers for each bridesmaid and mother of the bride from Clouds and Currents.  You can also change the ribbon colour to suit your colour theme!

~ another fun idea from Unique and Trendy, where you can have personalised 'team bride' tote bags.

If you are already married, what gifts did you buy for your bridesmaids?

Wedding Wednesday: cakes

In honour of blog post number 100, I thought I would share my favourite topics when discussing weddings....the dessert of course!

I'm not really a fan of the more traditional ones such as a fruit cake, so we were looking for something a little bit different.  Thanks to Pinterest, there are many options to admire and choose from.  I'm definitely drawn a cake with a rustic or vintage feel, so here are my favourites:

~ I adore the flowers on this cake, and of course the cute cake topping!

~  Another beautiful cake with flowers, this time on a rustic wooden bark as a cake stand - great idea!

~  This vintage lace one is just beautiful...almost too good to eat!

~ As I am having a winter wedding, this one would be perfect...

~  Or we could go for something different altogether...like these cute cupcakes

~  ...or even a plateful of macaroons!

If you're married, what did you have at your wedding?  And if you're getting married and don't fancy a fruit cake, what other options are you looking at?

I'm hungry now just looking at this post!  Here's to 100 more blog posts, enjoy!

Wedding Wednesday: flowers

I'm visiting my florist this weekend in the hope of finally choosing my wedding bouquet, so this has got me thinking about the kind of flowers that I would love to have at my wedding.

Pinterest is my main source of inspiration here.  There are so many gorgeous pictures of bouquets to admire, I could spend hours just drooling over them!

...this cute daisy and rose bouquet certainly caught my eye

....so did this simple bunch of white tulips

....or how about something a little bit different, like this bunch of white garden roses, gardenias, dusty miller, and grey Brazilian berries?

...I adore the pearls on this bouquet handle, such a lovely idea!

...last but not least, I could go for something with a more natural feel that includes gypsophila (or baby's breath) - just lovely!

There are so many lovely options, I'm actually really excited about this weekend and being able to decide on my bouquet....wish me luck!

Wedding Wednesday: celebrity inspiration #2

Gemma Arterton married her Italian fiance Stefano Catelli back in June 2010, in one of the most romantic celebrity weddings I've ever seen.  They chose a Spanish hillside in Andalucia for their intimate ceremony, then drove off in an open top car to start their married life!

I love the simplicity of this wedding, from her simple cream gown to her gorgeous flowers....it's everything I would want if I was getting married abroad.

Who wouldn't want to get married here?

Look at these gorgeous flowers - perfection!

The bridesmaids are in a pale blue colour, a gorgeous colour for a summer wedding

And to top it off...why not leave the ceremony in style with an open top car in the sunshine!

This wedding is like a dreamy scene from a Hollywood film.  Simple yet stunning!

Wedding Wednesday: hairstyles

I always thought I'd wear my hair down at my wedding.  In fact I've been growing it for months now in an attempt to have it at a reasonable length!

My wedding will (hopefully!) be quite informal as we are not getting married in a church, so I thought a relaxed, wavy look would be the best option.  The more and more I research wedding hairstyles though, the more I fall in love with the idea of having my hair up!

Pinterest is the main reason for my indecisiveness!  There are so many gorgeous hairstyles in my wedding inspiration folder...but I have managed to narrow down a few of my favourites.

~ Lauren Conrad is always a good 'go to' for hairstyle inspiration.  This one below is stunning, and perfect way to wear your hair down in a modern, curly fashion

~ I have also fallen in love with the idea of loose waves, and a white flower in my hair as a simple accessory

~ Now this is the picture that started my love of elegant 'up do's'!  A ballerina bun is so chic, and suits the vintage feel of this wedding below

~ Sparkling headbands - are they a yes or a no? I think they're quite sweet!

~ I adore this 1920's inspired look...I could look at this all day!

~ Last but not least, another sweet hairstyle, with a little braid giving it a more informal look

As you can tell, I really can't decide which look to go for!  Has anyone got any favourites out of this bunch?

Wedding Wednesday: wedding dresses

It's Wedding Wednesday time!  And what better way to kick start this week's wedding inspiration post than to look in awe at some beautiful wedding dresses.

I have luckily found my perfect wedding dress, and my first fitting will be towards the end of August, but that still hasn't stopped me from having a look at what else is out there!

Monique Lhuillier's Spring 2012 dresses are just divine.  They are so feminine and romantic, I've just fallen in love with all of them!

From A line dresses to fishtail to simple and sleek designs, there's a dress in this collection for most girls.  If only I could win the lottery, I could treat myself to another wedding dress!  One day maybe...

wedding wednesday: celebrity inspiration #1

As it's only 5 months to go before my wedding, I'm thoroughly enjoying looking for inspiration from my favourite wedding blogs, and celebrity weddings pictures.

The beautiful Margherita Missoni married her fiance Eugenio Amos in Italy last weekend, and I was browsing through some pictures online and had to share them!

Her wedding dress is breathtaking, and according to Grazia Daily she designed the gown herself, made with Missoni silk and organza.  There is so much detail to this gorgeous dress, I could stare at it for hours!

Her tiara is unusual, but it really goes well with the style of the wedding...

Here are the bridesmaids in their floral gowns...

And look at this amazing cake!

My favourite picture, Margherita sitting on these gorgeous cushions having a picnic!

                                                         (all pictures from Grazia)

Overall, this is a colourful, fun and ethereal wedding style which works so well with the beautiful garden settings in Italy.  If I was getting married abroad I would definitely make the most of the sunny weather and have an outdoor wedding like this!

Wedding Wednesday!

It's time for another Wedding Wednesday post!  This time it's not about potential ideas for my wedding - it's about the perfect dress to wear as a wedding guest!

My friend is getting married in June, so I'm currently looking for a lovely new outfit to wear from the high street.

Here are a few I've found and wanted to share and get some opinions!

*  This gorgeous blue dress is from one of my favourite shops - Mango.  Retailing at £44.99, it is definitely well within my budget and would mean I would have more money to spend on new shoes and a bag - bonus!

*  Next is this mint dress from Warehouse at £52.  I just love the mesh top detail and the longer train at the back.  This is also on trend with all the pastel colours in the shops right now.

*  My next option is this coral one shoulder dress from Coast.  This is £150, but would last in my wardrobe for years to come so definitely an investment piece.  If i'm ever stuck for a glamorous outfit to wear to a special occasion, then Coast is always a good option!

* Another one from Coast at £135, the flower details on this dress is so floaty and feminine I just fell in love!

*  This polka dot midi dress from ASOS is also on my radar.  Another bargain at only £40, this really stands out for me because of the pencil skirt length, and would look great with a pair of red shoes to make it pop!

Which ones do you love? Any other shops worth looking at?
