Oscar fashion 2013

Pale and nude colours are the way forward, according to the trends seen at this year's Oscars. 

A lot of the pale dresses that I saw were a bit hit and miss for me personally, but the ones who got it right looked simply stunning.  Here's Jennifer Lawrence, looking amazing in this Dior gown. I love her even more for falling over and carrying on with a smile on her face.

Anne Hathaway also opted for a pink gown, this time (suprisingly) wearing a Prada creation.  Now, I'm not in love with this look I'm afraid, but the details on the back of the dress make me like it just a little bit more.

My personal favourite of the night, Jessica Chastain in an Armani Prive nude gown.  This look is very old Hollywood glamour, a look which she pulls off so well. 

Suprisingly, I also like this Alexis Mabille creation worn by the beautiful Zoe Saldana.  I would give that belt a miss, but apart from that this look is just gorgeous!

A special mention also goes to Kate Bosworth, wearing this Giambattista Valli short dress at the Vanity Fair party.  Her face is just perfection, I love this girl!

Inspiration: Carey Mulligan

Apologies for the lack of post yesterday - we had a day off (thanks to a bank holiday), so my usual blogging timetable feels all over the place now!

To get me back into blogging mode, I wanted to share my admiration of Carey Mulligan.  I adore so much about her...from her cute hairstyles...to her film choices...to her style...she is so likeable and is someone who you feel you can be friends with!  Just a normal sweet girl, with a huge talent...here are just a few of my favourite Carey pictures...

Friday fancies: a summer treat!

It's an exciting day today for many reasons...

1) It's Friday
2) The sun is still shining and making everyone happy
3)  The Olympics finally start!

I am so excited for a relaxing night tonight consisting of watching the opening ceremony with a massive bowl of ice cream.  A perfect summer treat. 

Speaking of summer treats, this week's Friday Fancies is inspired by my love of ice cream.  A bowl of neopolitan ice cream is always something I look forward to having on a warm summer's day.

This ombre stripe silk blouse from Warehouse is now on sale for only £17, and would keep me nice and cool, paired up with yellow shorts and simple brown sandals.  It's making me crave ice cream by just looking at it!

Get the look!

I always love when magazines do 'steal celebrity style' features, and I'm always up for the challenge of finding pieces that I love from the high street on a budget...so thought why not give this a go!

I love Mollie King's outfit here - it's a perfect look for a hot summer's evening.  We're so used to seeing her in tiny dresses and shorts that it's a refreshing change to see her in a very simple, mature outfit.
