Friday fancies - wedding guest chic!

With the wedding season in full force at the moment, it's always handy to keep an eye on the dresses that are currently hitting the high street.

You never know when that invitation will pop through your letter box, and you need to rush out to buy the perfect wedding guest outfit...

I only have two weddings this year, but luckily I'm a bridesmaid for both!

However, if I was attending these weddings as a guest, this is definitely something I would go for...

Celia Birtwell for Uniqlo

I'm always excited when a high street brand collaborates with a well known designer, and Uniqlo are renowned for doing this (and doing this well, I might add).

This time around, they're collaborating with a famous textile designer, Celia Birtwell.  I adore her prints, so was very excited to see how she transferred her creativeness into adorable, wearable clothes.

There are many items available to purchase from today, ranging from t-shirts to tunics, leggings to culottes.  Here are a few of my favourite items, and ones that I've got eye on (roll on pay day...)

~ V neck t-shirts are so handy for a casual weekend look  Thrown together with jeans and sandals, you can't go wrong!  Here are two of my choices...

~ Tunics are also another handy wardrobe staple item.  I tend to wear these with leggings (only if they're long though...nobody wants to see a lady's bum through leggings now do they!)

~ I'm also partial to a blouse, and have many in my wardrobe.  I would love to add this adorable one to my collection...

~  Printed trousers are not normally something I go for....but I can't resist these red polka dots / star ones!

Can you tell I have a thing for polka dots yet?

There are many more items for sale on the Uniqlo website, so take a wander over here if you're interested in what Celia has to offer.

Friday Fancies...new year, new me

With us already being a few days into a brand new year (and this being the year I turn 30....eeeek...deep breaths...) I've definitely been thinking more and more about the way I dress.  I want to spend the time creating a brand new wardrobe for myself, investing in more classic pieces and not just spending money on clothes on a whim.

Thanks to this week's Friday Fancies I've been able to visualise a typical outfit that I would love to wear on a day to day basis...

New year...new me

A blazer and a white blouse worn together is simple and classic, but still has a young edge to it.  That is if you still want to cling on to your twenties...like me.

Paired with skinny jeans and nude pumps, I would frolic around happily in this look pretending that I'm Kate Middleton for the day (I'm not the only one who does this...or am I?)

Head over to Long Distance Loving's blog for more lovely ideas for a new you!

Friday Fancies: leaf love!

I personally love this time of year when all the leaves are turning from gorgeous green to a more rustic orange and brown, so this week's Friday Fancies plays perfectly with autumnal colours.  If you are ever in doubt when looking for an autumn outfit, you can't go wrong when sticking to these shades!

Leaf love outfit for an autumn day

I've chosen all my items from Dorothy Perkins, it's such a fantastic high street shop and very affordable as well.  Actually, looking at this outfit makes me want to go and buy these items immediately!

What is everyone up to this weekend?  I'm especially excited because my bridesmaids are having their first dress fitting tomorrow, I can't wait to see them in their lovely dresses!

Get the look: Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is looking amazingly stylish and ladylike these days.  Her style has developed and matured over the years, and nearly everything she wears I fall in love with.  She tends to stick to cute vintage style dresses for her casual everyday style, so it was refreshing to see her rock a bright pair of trousers like below!

I've managed to find a few key items on the high street and online so we can copy her look!

Taylor Swift - get the look

~ A navy striped jumper from Next at only £18
~ Red jeans from Dorothy Perkins
~ This satchel from ASOS retailing at £120
~ A cute pair of ballet pumps from Topshop for £16

Hope everyone is having a lovely week!

Summer holiday collection #1

As the high streets shops are full of gorgeous items for the summer,  I decided to turn this into a mini series where I can search for my favourite summer holiday looks that are available right now.

This first 'summer holiday' series will focus on dresses.

If you are about to leave for a holiday (you lucky things!) then there are so many great dresses to buy...from maxi dresses to bandeau dresses to floral dresses!

Here are my current high street summer favourites...

~ This floral dress is from Warehouse retailing at £35.00.  This floral print really stood out for me, and I love the 1950's feel to it.  I can just imagine pairing this with a cute summer hat and sandals for a daytime look.

~ Another gorgeous dress from Warehouse.  This white cotton dress retails at £38.00, and would look great as a daytime look with sandals or dressed up for the night with heels!

~ You can't go wrong with a denim dress for summer!  This lovely strappy one is from Topshop retailing at £40.00.  I also feel in love with the pleated detailed on the skirt!

~ This yellow dipped hem dress at £48.00 is from Topshop and is great addition to your wardrobe if you love the neon trend.

~  Another lovely white dress, this time from Oasis.  This is a classic sleeveless dress, but the studded collar detail gives it an edge.  I also love the belt that comes with it, and this dress retails at £65.00
~ And last but not least...my favourite!  This gorgeous striped maxi dress from Mango retails at £59.99.  I think this will definitely be making an appearance in my wardrobe!
