Friday fancies: a birthday wishlist

My birthday is coming up next weekend (I'm turning 29...only 1 more year until I turn 30....scary!) so I've come up with my ultimate birthday present wishlist for this week's Friday Fancies

Now some of these items are slightly out of my budget, but this is of course my fantasy wishlist and who knows....it could come true one day!

birthday wishlist

~ a Mulberry handbag, something which I'm determined to call my own one day. It's such a classic bag, and something I would keep for years to come and hopefully pass down to my future children!

~ these boots from Dune, perfect for the cold winter days ahead.

~ tweed shorts, like these ones from H&M would be a great addition to my work wardrobe

~ A Chanel perfume like this Coco Mademoiselle - one of my favourites!

~  I'd also love a nice print of one of my favourite books, The Great Gatsby

Not much to ask is it? A girl can dream!

What's everyone up to this weekend?  My wedding invitations have arrived and I'm so happy with them.  So my weekend will mostly consist of writing all those up!

Autumn fashion: coats #1

Autumn is just around the corner (we didn't really have a great summer here anyway, so lets just focus on having a glorious autumn!)

I love everything about this season....the knitwear....the boots...drinking hot chocolates...crunching on fallen leaves....I could go on and on.  I also love buying a new coat to start the season off in style, so have started on my quest to find the perfect one to get me through the rainy days.

Warehouse have a fantastic new range of coats that I've been drooling over.  From duffel coats to blazers to leather jackets....their selection goes on and on!  Here are a few of my favourite ones that I've currently got my eye on...

Autumn coats from Warehouse

~ a quilted waxed belted coat retailing at £85.00

~ this cropped blazer at only £45.00

~ another blazer, this time with an animal print retailing at £50.00

~ a dark red ovoid coat at £85.00

~ a classic quilted faux fur parka at £80.00

For now I'll keep looking at what other high street shops have to offer, but this certainly is a fantastic start to my search for a perfect autumn / winter coat!

Inspiration: Carey Mulligan

Apologies for the lack of post yesterday - we had a day off (thanks to a bank holiday), so my usual blogging timetable feels all over the place now!

To get me back into blogging mode, I wanted to share my admiration of Carey Mulligan.  I adore so much about her...from her cute hairstyles...to her film choices...to her style...she is so likeable and is someone who you feel you can be friends with!  Just a normal sweet girl, with a huge talent...here are just a few of my favourite Carey pictures...

And the one that gets me very excited....a still from The Great Gatsby which is out next year.  I can't wait to see her as Daisy!

Friday Fancies - a summer road trip

When I saw that this week's Friday Fancies was creating an outfit for a road trip, I literally jumped with joy!  A road trip is my ideal adventure....and my dream is to travel around USA in an open top car...just taking in all the amazing sights and stopping off around small little B&B's.  Maybe one day my dream will come true!

During any road trip, you could potentially spend hours in a car so comfort is key here when choosing an outfit.  I've gone for the ultimate comfort trousers - the boyfriend jeans.  Slouchy but still managing to look stylish, what more could you want!

A pair of slip on converse pumps and a cute little t-shirt also make up the outfit, paired with a gorgeous silk scarf to finish it off.

road trip!

What is everyone up to this weekend?  I've got my first fitting for my wedding dress tomorrow....I'm a little nervous to tell the truth.  I hope I still like the dress!

Wedding Wednesday: hairstyles

I always thought I'd wear my hair down at my wedding.  In fact I've been growing it for months now in an attempt to have it at a reasonable length!

My wedding will (hopefully!) be quite informal as we are not getting married in a church, so I thought a relaxed, wavy look would be the best option.  The more and more I research wedding hairstyles though, the more I fall in love with the idea of having my hair up!

Pinterest is the main reason for my indecisiveness!  There are so many gorgeous hairstyles in my wedding inspiration folder...but I have managed to narrow down a few of my favourites.

~ Lauren Conrad is always a good 'go to' for hairstyle inspiration.  This one below is stunning, and perfect way to wear your hair down in a modern, curly fashion

~ I have also fallen in love with the idea of loose waves, and a white flower in my hair as a simple accessory

~ Now this is the picture that started my love of elegant 'up do's'!  A ballerina bun is so chic, and suits the vintage feel of this wedding below

~ Sparkling headbands - are they a yes or a no? I think they're quite sweet!

~ I adore this 1920's inspired look...I could look at this all day!

~ Last but not least, another sweet hairstyle, with a little braid giving it a more informal look

As you can tell, I really can't decide which look to go for!  Has anyone got any favourites out of this bunch?

my instagram life

Is it really Monday once again?  The weekend seems to go in a blink of an eye!  We had friends staying with us so the last couple of days seemed to pass by even faster because we were quite busy.

We managed a little trip to Cowbridge on Sunday - I really love spending time here.  It has so many quaint and vintage style shops, there are so many little treasures to be found!

~ starting a new book...

~ food and cocktails on a Saturday night...perfect

~ The main street with the shops in Cowbridge - such a pretty town!

~ The best little antique market, they even serve homemade cakes....yum!

~ a delicious hot chocolate to unwind from my busy weekend

Did everyone have a nice weekend?  What did you get up to?

Friday Fancies: summer sunset

Now this week's challenge over at Friday fancies makes me want to book my honeymoon immediately!  There is nothing better than admiring a gorgeous sunset at a glamorous location wearing a flowing maxi dress and drinking a cheeky cocktail or two is there?

This week's outfit is all from Topshop, I just couldn't resist this orange empire maxi dress teamed up with gold sandals.  Simple yet lovely!

We're having friends stay with us this weekend, so looking forward to taking them out for food and maybe a roadtrip to a beach if the weather stays dry!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Get the look: Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is looking amazingly stylish and ladylike these days.  Her style has developed and matured over the years, and nearly everything she wears I fall in love with.  She tends to stick to cute vintage style dresses for her casual everyday style, so it was refreshing to see her rock a bright pair of trousers like below!

I've managed to find a few key items on the high street and online so we can copy her look!

Taylor Swift - get the look

~ A navy striped jumper from Next at only £18
~ Red jeans from Dorothy Perkins
~ This satchel from ASOS retailing at £120
~ A cute pair of ballet pumps from Topshop for £16

Hope everyone is having a lovely week!

my instagram life

Well it's already mid August...the Olympics have now finished...where has the time gone?!

Speaking of the Olympics, did anyone watch the closing ceremony last night?  I'm so glad the Spice Girls performed, they were amazing!  I was such a fan back in the day, and they never fail to disappoint.

Apart from being glued to the TV yet again watching all the action at the Olympics, I did manage to drag myself out and enjoy the sunshine.  My best friend is getting married in May next year and I'm a bridesmaid, so we went shopping for bridesmaid dresses and found a gorgeous one!

We also took a trip on Sunday morning to Cosmeston Lakes Country Park, which is absolutely beautiful.  I'm so glad we ended up driving here, it was lovely to see people of all ages enjoying the park.

~ a little cake for a Friday morning treat

~ having a break from bridesmaid dress shopping - stopping off in Morgans for lunch (which is amazing!) for a smoked salmon sandwich

Friday fancies: gingham love

It's 'Gingham Gorge' time over on Long Distance Loving's blog today.  For some reason, a gingham print always reminds me of hot carefree summer days, so my outfit here is reflective of this!

The crop top is still very much a popular item in high street shops, and this blue and white gingham print keeps the crop top looking cute and not too 'sexy'

gingham summer outfit

As gingham is quite a strong print, I've kept the rest of the outfit very simple.  A white skirt compliments the top perfectly, paired with white sandals and a very sweet 'love' necklace.  The sunshine is glorious today so I would love to be wearing something like this right now!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
